  3. Its follow-up, From the Witchwood, is an excellent folk-prog album, with the Strawbs' own unique take on the style, not to mention one of their best-ever songs in the haunting The Hangman And The Papist, guaranteed an airing at many a gig to this day. Other highlights include Sheep and A Glimpse Of Heaven, but the only track that really bothers.
  4. This album was originally the weak link in the transition of the Strawbs from an acoustic folk-rock outfit to a progressive folk band, being neither fish nor fowl and suffering from an anemic mix. The British reissue (A&M ), however, solves some inherent problems that plagued both the original vinyl edition and the first CD reissues.8/

  6. Album Rating: From The Witchwood is the first Strawbs' enjoyable album. The first two have already showed glimpse of prog rock with songs like 'Vision Of The Lady Of The Lake' (probably my favorite) and ''The Battle'', but here, they approach still more the style.
  7. A Glimpse Of Heaven This song is by Strawbs and appears on the album From The Witchwood () and on the compilation album A Choice Selection Of Strawbs (). 8. From the Witchwood is the fourth album by English band Strawbs. It was recorded at Air Studios, London during February and March and reached number 39 in the UK Album Charts. The album is the third and final album to include Rick Wakeman, including his appearance as a session musician on the album Dragonfly.
  9. A glimpse of heaven indeed "From the Witchwood" marked the start of the Strawbs transition in earnest from a primarily acoustic folk based band, to a prog rock orientated band with strong folk influences. The album represents Rick Wakeman's last venture with the Strawbs, before he was headhunted by Yes.4/5(41).
